Spring Workshop 2015
This past weekend, Treehouse World hosted their first workshop of the year. Over 20 participants learned the art and craft of treehouse construction, while getting to know some really great fellow builders!
Our workshops feature both lectures and hands-on lessons in treehouse construction. This year, participants learned not only about how to build and design a treehouse, but added tree biology, theories of attachment, hardware installation and other specialty areas of expertise to their toolbox. Our president, arborist, and tree house guru Dan Wright, was, as always, enthusiastically ready to answer any questions participants had.
Participants gave us feedback on their time at our workshop. One participant said he "had a great time and learned so much. Thank you for a great weekend . . . I'll definitely stay in touch as I start my project."
Another participant remarked, "Everyone here this weekend – teachers, employees and students – all had an openness and camaraderie that I don’t think you would find in a randomly selected group of the same size elsewhere. I attribute this to 2 things: 1) Treehouses unite people and 2) Dan. I had areas I was interested in learning about – it was all covered – Dan and his staff were excellent about answering all questions."
One participant put it better than we could: "It is magical to watch a beautiful vision come alive.” We agree.
That's why this year, we opened our grounds up to participants who helped us create two unique structures for Treehouse World! With the help of our workshop participants, Treehouse World is one step closer to being the area's most unique treehouse adventure attraction. (This summer, Treehouse World will be open for tree climbing birthday adventures and will offer tree climbing, themed treehouses, a giant adventure swing, and more!)
The first structure (pictured above) will be an amazing pirate themed treehouse that our staff fondly refers to as "Greybeard". The other structure (pictured below) will be a massive, leaf-themed platform. The platform features two levels, and will, from the front, resemble Greybeard's face, beard and all!
Our workshops are perfect for anyone - whether you have years of carpentry experience, or none at all. Whether you're into pirate themes, leafy platforms, or something in between, we want to help you make the treehouse of your dreams.
